Job Summary

Responsible for all aspects of the CAD drawing process, CNC nesting and programming for profile cutting and bending services, and the sub assembly and assembly of metal components, throughout the tendering and production processes.

Peripheral Duties

  • Interact with organisational team members and other departments in a professional manner. 
  • Comply with the company management system requirements for quality and health and safety.
  • Participate in all training initiatives specific to the post holder’s duties. 
  • Undertake such other duties as maybe reasonably requested by senior management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a metal profile cutting/ fabrication environment. 
  • Experience of working with SigmaNest and SigmaMRP software, or similar is essential.
  • Experience using CAD and Solidworks preferably with a metal fabrication environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • A strong knowledge/experience of CNC cutting and programming and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Strong commercial awareness/manufacturing experience within a metal profile cutting/fabrication setting.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to liaise competently with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of steel types and grades, their properties and uses.
  • Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel)
  • Sales and estimating experience advantageous but not essential

Core Responsibilities

  • Liaise with customers and establish their needs and requirements.
  • Review customer’s drawings and identify special requirements or possible manufacturing concerns. Determine if the product aligns with our manufacturing capabilities and capacities.
  • All aspects of the CAD drawing process including drawing, modifying and converting CAD files into a usable format for laser/plasma cutting and bending.
  • Nesting and programming for CNC laser, plasma machines, utilising current software. 
  • Create materials lists of all components and materials for jobs in production.
  • Liaise with Operations Director/Manager and ensure all production information is handed over in a concise, organised and timeous manner.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to the production team to ensure all work is completed to a high standard and on time.
  • Liaise with internal team members to resolve queries, advise on cost effective methods of manufacture, and expedite progress.
  • Assist the Estimator with the preparation of quotations as and when required.
  • Arrive to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.

The Package

  • Hourly Rate negotiable depending on experience
  • 4 day working week Mon-Thurs 7am – 5.15pm (39hours)
  • Overtime when required
