Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the onsite activities of projects from planning through to delivery, liaising with the client’s project team, and ensuring the works are completed on time and within budget. 

Peripheral Duties

  • Interact with organisational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
  • Comply with the company management system requirements for quality and health and safety.
  • Assist Team members in the implementation of safe working practices.
  • Participate in all training initiatives specific to the post holder’s duties.
  • Undertake such other duties as maybe reasonably requested by senior management.

Minimum Requirements

  • City & Guilds of London Institute, SVQ level 2, SVQ level 3 and preferably a Journeyman’s card/Four year apprenticeship program.
  • Four years’ experience either in a production or site environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working under pressure .
  • Current SMSTS certificate .
  • Current manager/supervisor CSCS card .
  • Experience of Asta Powerproject or similar would be an advantage.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a metal profile cutting/fabrication environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to liaise competently with internal and external customers and suppliers.
    A comprehensive knowledge of steel types and grades, their properties and uses.
  • Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel)
  • Experience in corresponding directly with clients, architects and engineers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure all projects are safely delivered on time, to budget and achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with employees and implement best practice in manufacture and installation.
  • Be responsible for the forward planning of resources to ensure sufficient direct and subcontract labour is available to meet the contract dates.
  • Organise and manage site activities and resource allocation of site teams daily to ensure projects are run to programme and within budget.
  • Raise awareness to the estimating department as variations occur and work with estimators to quote variations.
  • Arrange site surveys in conjunction with the drawing office.
  • Update programme on all current projects making changes as they occur and advising other departments of changes which might affect production and resources.
  • Liaise with the Fabrication Manager weekly to update him on any changes to site conditions necessitating modification to the agreed delivery schedule.
  • Visit sites regularly to ensure that Metaltech uk works are being installed correctly, and update programme in line with changing site dates.
  • Liaise with client site teams to resolve problems and ensure smooth running of project to target dates.
  • Manage Health and Safety for direct labour and sub-contractors and be responsible for developing and implementing method statements, risk assessments and lift plans. You will be accountable for all aspects of safety across the installation phase of the project.
  • Ensure materials are procured in a timely manner for site operations.
  • Implement and comply with all Company and Client Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures, all legal requirements and best practice, including regular site safety inspections.
  • Attend all site safety co-ordination meetings/weekly co-ordination meetings.
  • Arrive to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
  • This role will involve UK travel with occasional overnight stays.

The Package

  • Hourly Rate negotiable depending on experience
  • 4 day working week Mon-Thurs 7am – 5.15pm (39hours)
