Job Summary

Responsible for set-up, lay-out , manufacture and installation of various steelwork and metalworks which includes staircases, balustrades, roof access systems, structural and secondary steelworks.. Ability to tack up structures to tight tolerance. Ability to weld out precision frames to exact tolerances, carry out final inspection of works and to hold final required cosmetic finish with angle grinders and sanders. (please note this list is not exhaustive). Move parts and heavy frames on and off machinery and throughout the facility in a safe responsible manner. Read complicated prints/drawings and “spec. weld symbols”.

Peripheral Duties

  • Interact with organisational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
  • Comply with the company management system requirements for quality and health and safety.
  • Take reasonable care of own and others safety, co-operate with manager/supervisor in complying with statutory health & safety duties, to report incidents, accidents, faults etc.
  • Participate in all training initiatives specific to the post holder’s duties.
  • Undertake such other duties as maybe reasonably requested by senior management.

Minimum Requirements

  • CSCS Card is a MUST
  • Must be available to travel/stay away from home
  • Proven background in Site installations and preferably having served a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Possess knowledge of, and ability to identify, fabrication industry metals. 
  • High School Education. 
  • A Full UK Driving licence would be advantageous but not essential.

Core Responsibilities

  • Mig & MMA & TIG welding in Carbon steels
  • Square up and weld various geometries of components.
  • Understand various weld form symbols on blue prints and understand size of fillet forms.
  • Weld both vertical and horizontal plane geometry.
  • Understand various edge preps before welding.
  • Good understanding of set up techniques.
  • Meets agreed goals and objectives in a timely manner.
    Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
  • Sign off, and handover paperwork in accordance with company standards and procedures.

Equipment, Machinery & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to adapt to working on site conditions i.e. outside sites
  • Welding equipment MAG and TIG 
  • Overhead Crane, Angle Grinder, Band Saw, Belt Linishers, Vertical Drills, Press brake, Guillotine, Oxy Acetylene Cutting Equipment, Manual plasma cutting, Forklift, Pallet Truck and Hand Tools.
  • Lifting up to 25kg regularly and 35kg occasionally, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.

The Package

  • Hourly Rate negotiable depending on experience
  • 4 day working week Mon-Thurs 7am – 5.15pm (39hours)
  • Overtime/Travel when required
  • Immediate start following successful interview.
