The bridge tells an important story and stands as a place to honour the memory of someone called David Oluwale. David Oluwale was a Nigerian immigrant who tragically drowned in 1969 after enduring racial harassment due to his mental health and homelessness.

This initiative, led by Leeds City Council in collaboration with the David Oluwale Memorial Association (DOMA) and local partners, aims to remember him and reaffirm the city’s dedication to equality and inclusion. The bridge stands across the river Aire and spans from Sovereign Street to Water Lane. We are honoured to contribute to this meaningful legacy project.

A stunning bridge with a touching story behind it.
